There are so many old dilapidated trailers, campers, machinery and junk at the site it is like sleeping in a junkyard. Our water was one of three hoses off of another hose. There was a dump station, but the road to get to it was so bad I didn’t want to drive my 5th wheel on it. When I was looking for a campground on another app I searched for Thompson Ohio. This one and another came up. I got back on the app and showed my wife all the great pictures of the place, she hit the map and it came up Thompson road in Virginia, wrong park. I set the bar pretty low as to customer satisfaction after talking to the manager.

Owner was very helpful. Older park with hook ups all over the place and every site was different. Lots of long term workers here.

The full hook ups are great. Some of the new fire rings are placed a bit oddly, ie. There is a pool just for the campgrounds that is free. It is very nice. The maps are difficult to follow because there is so much on them. Don’t be deceived by Rose Lake. It is NOT really accessible to the campground. I was told there is a path between sites 68 and Once you are on it, take a left at the fork in the path. The lake is strictly for fishing.
Be careful in using GPS. It told us 4 wrong directions. If you are coming from 33, take South.

To find military facilities we use www. Some people swear by it, I don’t use it. It’s about the best deal out there and well worth your consideration. We no longer have a membership to Passport America because we don’t use a lot of commercial campgrounds. If you do, we recommend Passport America highly. If you pull in to one of these free locations, drop the jacks, pull out the slides, extend the awning and disconnect the dinghy, you are a certifiable jerk and are spoiling it for the rest of us who use the opportunity.
If you disagree with this, do yourself a favor and do not email me to argue the point, it will only make you a bigger jerk. And if you open up and dump your black tank into a public drainage system I will do my best to get you put in jail for a very long time. When we started fulltiming I was not yet old enough for the National Park Service’s Golden Age Passport so I had been paying full price at federal facilities.
It comes in a number of varieties including an age related card and an “access” card. They are essentially the same as the Golden Passports which are no longer available but which will continue to be honored.

October 21, – October 27, Location: About 60 miles southeast of Columbus, OH. Eleven miles southwest of Logan, OH and U. The Hocking Hills State Park was recommended as a great natural area with good hiking. The campground sits on a ridge amongst tall hardwoods, and it is isolated from the rest of the park, although you can hike to some of the main attractions. Interior roads and pads are paved, but there is very little space or privacy between sites. The setting of the campground itself is nice, but the sites aren’t especially attractive.
None used Big Rig Friendly: It’s accessible to big rigs and there are a few sites that can accommodate big rigs, but I wouldn’t call it “big rig friendly”. The sites are not particularly long and you will likely have to park a toad or tow vehicle on the grass or in the parking near the pool. There are places to turn a big rig around at the end of the loops, but the campground certainly wasn’t built with today’s larger RVs in mind.

Nice big sites and some have full hookup – Hocking Hills Campground
Dislikes… -Gravel very dusty! There were not any gates to keep people out after hours. They could use a lot of upgrading.
This peaceful Ohio campground is set in the woods and meadows around three spring-fed lakes, so I’m never far from a place to get wet and “keep kool.” The pristine acre swimmin’ lake is the perfect place to play on the water and catch a few rays on the sandy beach.
